The Giallorossi suffered their first defeat of the season at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa this evening, going down 2-1 against Sampdoria.
The game came to life early in the second half. Brazilian-born Italy striker Eder opened the scoring for the Blucerchiati in the 50th minute, beating Morgan De Sanctis with a low free-kick to make it 1-0.
You didn't have to wait long for a reaction from Rudi Garcia's men. Sampdoria couldn't make it out of their own half for a long period after taking the lead and Roma's spell on top was rewarded with an equalizer from Mohamed Salah, who rifled in a left-footed shot for his second goal of the season.
After drawing level the Giallorossi kept up the pressure in search of a winner, but five minutes from the end Eder's deflected shot from the right was sliced into Roma's net by an unfortunate Kostantinos Manolas.
Goals: Sampdoria [Eder, Manolas]
Roma [Salah]
